Hollywood board games top list

It’s clear now to everyone that board games are the new Hollywood frontier.
After the big success of super heroes entertainment movies and the renewed invasion of toys in the cinemas, now Hollywood is ready to hit on.

New adaptations are ready for the next year to hit the big screen with some of the legendary board games of the twentieth century.

All started with the success of Transformers, followed in these days by G.I. Joe, another historic brand of  Hasbro the second largest toy manufacturer in the United States who has a deal with Universal Pictures to make movies based on its products: toys or  games
For this reason Hollywood is ready to invest a lot of money for new big budgets movies based on board games.
Here there is the Hollywood board games top list:

• Monopoly
Ridley Scott revealed in an interview with the the Los Angeles Times that he is making a movie based on Monopoly: Monopoly is still the most popular board game in the world –Scott said –. So it’s really finding the universe for that game. Because clearly it ought to be humorous and for the family — the funny way it brings out, particularly when your uncle suddenly gets Park Lane and — in England, we have Park Lane, Mayfair and Barclay Square, what’s it in America? Park and Madison? So you watch people change. You’re witness to Jekyll and Hyde. Somewhere in that is a hysterically amusing and I think rather exciting film.

• Clue
Already made into a comedy in the eighties with an all-star cast, the new movie inspired on the Clue board game will be directed by Gore Verbinski.
The director of Pirates of the Caribbean is definitely the right choice for recreating the colourful and fun atmosphere of this game.

• Candy Land
The Hasbro Candy Land board game will inspire a new movie directed by Kevin Lima and written by Ethan Cohen.
Candy Land was born in 1949 and. It’s a very popular board game among American children. Currently, Hasbro produces several versions of the game, there is a puzzle, a travel version and a PC game.

• Ouija
Onuija board (also called Weegee) is a flat surface on which are drawn all the letters of the alphabet, numbers 0 to 9 and others symbols.  Mediums and sensitives believes that with Ouija they can ask questions to the souls of the deceased, pointing the letters and the symbols of the board.
Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, reported to SCI FI Wire that are close to hire a top writer to produce an horror movie based on the Ouija board.

After Hancock Peter Beg is ready to adapt this popular naval warfare board game into a naval warfare movie.

• Risk Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to prodce a new movie based on the Risk board game, just , a few months after the announcement of Universal of its new movie based on Battle Ship.

The idea is to produce a film adaptation based on the main objective of Risk board game: the “world domination”; according with the producers the new Risk movies will be a strategy warfare film, full of action and thrilling scenes.

Well, it seems that after having sacked comics and television, Hollywood puts the hands in the basket of the games, looking for new inspiration and new markets.
